On January 14, 2020, support for Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 will end. After this date you will no longer receive regular security updates so you shouldn’t let your infrastructure and applications go unprotected. But don’t worry, we’re here to help you migrate to current versions which offer greater security, performance and innovation.

Why upgrade to Azure?

There are three reasons why you should migrate your 2008 server applications to Azure. Aside from the fact that support for 2008 servers is coming soon, upgrading your Windows Server and SQL Server applications to Azure will accelerate innovation with improved cost savings and security.

Innovation – With Azure you can focus on business innovation with fully managed services like Azure SQL DatabaseAzure App Service, and Azure IaaS that can help modernise your applications.

Cost Saving – With free extended security updates, the Azure Hybrid Benefit, and optimized infrastructure you can reduce your infrastructure costs. Also, when you move one hundred 2008 servers to Azure, you could save up to £ 550,000.00.

Security and Compliance – Security is foundational for Azure. Microsoft’s secure cloud foundation can counter even the most sophisticated cyberthreats. You can also proactively safeguard your data and streamline compliance with the most comprehensive compliance coverage of any cloud service provider.

The Azure Migration Center has a full range of tools available to help you assess your current on-premises environment, migrate your workloads onto Azure, and optimize your Azure usage to best suit your needs.
