The 2019 Tech Trends We’re Excited About

With 2018 coming to a close and 2019 just around the corner, we’ve been thinking a lot about the trends we think will gather pace next year. Here’s a few of our favourites:

Autonomous vehicles

Driverless cars, autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have all hit the headlines in 2018. What was previously thought of as something out of a sci-fi movie is now becoming the “norm” with companies such as Tesla, governments, militaries and research institutions all investing in unmanned technology. The benefits that can be gained from these systems including increased efficiency, reduced costs and reduced human risk mean that demand is only going to grow in 2019, and we’re excited to see what’s next.

Artificial intelligence

Perhaps the hottest topic in 2018, artificial intelligence is showing no signs of slowing down. Again once thought of as something that would only exist with the help of Steven Spielberg, AI is now becoming a part of everyday businesses. From sales to marketing and customer service, artificial intelligence is increasingly being used to relieve humans of repetitive tasks, and AI systems are now used for chatbots, spam filters, auto-responders, product personalisation, fraud detection and more.

Virtual & augmented reality

Augmented reality went mainstream due to the success of Pokemon Go back in 2016 and since then everyone has been talking about it. And it’s not just taken over the gaming industry – virtual and augmented reality has been used across training, retail and construction industries for some years now, and those are just to name a few. We definitely expect to see a lot more in 2019!

So there we have it – just a couple of the amazing developments in technology that we’re looking forward to seeing more of in 2019. What are you most excited about?
